School terms and vacation periods for upper secondary school
The school year is divided into terms and vacation periods. Exactly when the fall term, spring term and vacation periods start and end is decided by the authority in charge of the education at your school.
A school year consists of 40 weeks, with at least 178 school days and at least 12 vacation days.
Fall term 2024
- First day of school: 12–22 August (contact your school for the exact date)
- Höstlov (fall vacation), week 44: 28 October–1 November
- Last day of the fall term: 20 December
Spring term 2025
- First day of the spring term: 7 January
- Sportlov (winter vacation), week 9: 24–28 February
- Easter vacation, week 16: 14–17 April
- Ascension Day (Kristi himmelsfärdsdag): 30 May
- Last day of school: 2–16 June (contact your school for the exact date)
Fall term 2025
- First day of school: 11–21 August (contact your school for the exact date)
- Höstlov (fall vacation), week 44: 27–31 October
- Last day of the fall term: 19 December
Spring term 2026
- First day of the spring term: 7 January
- Sportlov (winter vacation), week 9: 23–27 February
- Easter vacation, week 15: 7–10 April
